Pain that's keeping you awake or facial swelling near a tooth. Often means infection or an exposed nerve. Toothache treatment details.

Same-Day Care, Honestly Explained

Same-day appointments aren't magic. They're a result of how we structure our schedule. Here's exactly how we make them happen.

How One

Slots Held Open Daily

We block out time on the schedule every business day specifically for urgent patients. These slots aren't filled by routine appointments. They sit open for situations exactly like yours.

How Two

Phone Triage First

When you call, we listen to what's going on and decide together whether it's a same-day situation. If it is, we tell you when to come in. If it can wait, we explain why and book you appropriately.

How Three

Honest Wait Times

If our same-day slots are full, we tell you. We won't string you along all day. Sometimes that means we get you in tomorrow morning instead. Either way, you know exactly when you'll be seen.

From First Call to Walking Out

Here's exactly what happens between picking up the phone and leaving our office with the situation handled.

01

You Call Our Office

2-5 Minute Call

Our team listens to your situation, asks a few quick questions, and gives you an arrival time. If you're a new patient, we collect basic information over the phone to save time when you arrive.

02

You Arrive at the Office

Almost Immediate

You're greeted at the front desk and brought back as quickly as possible. We don't make urgent patients sit in a waiting room watching the clock. If you're early, we're early.

03

Quick Exam & X-Ray

10-15 Minutes

Dr. Collins examines the issue and takes any needed X-rays. You see the result on screen. We diagnose the cause clearly so you understand exactly what we're dealing with.

04

Treatment Plan Explained

5-10 Minutes

Dr. Collins walks you through what's needed and what each option costs. No pressure to decide on the spot. We answer your questions and proceed only when you're comfortable.

05

Same-Day Treatment When Possible

30-90 Minutes

Most issues are treated during the same visit. Some cases need a follow-up appointment for more involved work, but you leave with a clear plan, prescriptions if needed, and your immediate problem addressed.

Our Approach

Why We Hold Slots Open

Dental problems don't follow office calendars. They show up at 6 a.m. on a Tuesday or after dinner on a Thursday night. Holding slots open for urgent patients is how we honor the way real life actually works.

Reason One

Pain Doesn't Wait

A toothache that's bad enough to call about isn't going to get better with time. Most dental issues escalate quickly. Same-day care prevents simple problems from becoming complicated ones.

Reason Two

Every Hour Matters

A knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour. An exposed nerve hurts more by the minute. Holding slots open means we can act when timing actually matters.

Reason Three

Trust Is Built Here

Patients remember the dentist who got them in when they really needed it. We'd rather earn long-term trust by being available than book every slot months in advance.

Same-Day Appointment FAQ

In most cases yes, especially for urgent situations like severe pain, swelling, or a broken tooth. We hold same-day slots open every business day specifically for these situations. The fastest way to find out is to call our office and describe what's going on. We'll give you a clear answer within minutes.
If our same-day slots are full, we'll tell you honestly and book you for the next available appointment. For urgent situations, that's usually first thing the next morning. We'll also walk you through anything you can do at home in the meantime to manage pain or protect the tooth until your visit.
No. We see new patients for emergency situations the same way we see existing patients. You'll fill out new patient forms when you arrive, but we don't make you wait for a "new patient slot" when you're in pain. Visit our patient resources page to download forms ahead of time.
Our office is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We're closed Monday, Saturday, and Sunday. If a true dental emergency happens outside of our office hours, the local hospital emergency room can manage pain and infection until we can see you the next business day.
When in doubt, call. A two-minute phone call helps us decide together whether you need to be seen today or whether it can wait. We'd rather have you call about something that turns out to be minor than have you wait at home worrying about something serious.
Most dental insurance plans cover emergency exams and standard treatments like fillings, crowns, and extractions. Coverage is the same whether the visit is scheduled in advance or same-day. Two Rivers Dental Group accepts most major plans and our team helps you understand your coverage before treatment begins. Visit our patient resources page for more.
